The Principal Quantitative Engineer will lead initiatives on developing quantitative methodologies and providing quantitative analysis to support engineering studies, plans, calculations, evaluations, design documents, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets, associated with the research, planning, design, operation, and maintenance of Exelon Utilities’ overall strategic plans and initiatives. The Quantitative Engineer will develop and maintain quantitative analytical models and methodologies to identify trends and predict outcomes, provide explanations of the modeling and its results to management and senior leaders. The person will be responsible of monitoring and responding to business needs by staying abreast of developments in the energy industry and provide analysis/reports to meet those needs.



1.Bachelor of Science degree in engineering Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems, and provide quantitative engineering analysis

2.Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.

3.Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.

4.10 or more years of professional engineering or quantitative analyst experience (1) (3) (See Note).

5.Thorough knowledge and experience in unique areas of engineering expertise.

6.Detailed knowledge of applicable standards, codes methods, and practices unique to areas of expertise.

7.Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to identify and resolve complex issues.

8.Technical applications of complex subjects

9.Develops and executes complex technical proposals

10.Experience articulating business questions and using mathematical techniques to arrive at an answer using available data. Experience translating analysis results into business recommendations.

11.Draw on knowledge of programming in MATLAB, Python, R, C++, SQL, VBA skills to develop and maintain the models that guide the company’s engineering activities. 

12.Minimum of three related career experiences (4) in quantitative and engineering discipline (i.e., changes in technical job responsibilities, which may or may not include a change in department) OR

13.Lead Member of a recognized industry committee

14.Graduate degree (1) or Graduate level work in quantitative discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, industrial engineering, statistics, operations research, economics, computer science, data analytics, mathematics, physics, etc.).


1.Master or Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering or related area with existing experience on research, engineering or data analytics is preferred

2.Solid background in Electrical Engineering or related field with specific experience in the smart grid area.Familiar with power system planning and operation

3.Strong technical skills with experience on power systems modeling, analysis and operation, such as power systems modeling with distributed energy resources, steady state and dynamic analysis, and market operation.

4.Recognized technical leadership through publications or technical working groups, such as IEEE and CIGRE publications or working groups, are strongly preferred

5.Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, as well as the experience to lead the project team and communicate with all management levels.
